The Open Road

I bless myself in sizes small, medium and large.
I bless this time of letting go, knowing till I know.
I bless the need to let go of control,
leave behind the tyranny of the past,
explore the unseen.

I bless my daughter, Sarah who has helped me arrive.

I thank myself for wanting to change.
I thank cloudscape art racing across the Chicago sky,
or on a cloudless day, I dream along the open road.

The soft gray cane handle
cozies up to the black one
    who's tickled pink,
               speaks:
Let's walk into the sunset together.
